Which Wineries will we visit? Can I choose?

If you have booked on one of our public tours, you will enjoy wine tastings at some of our favourite wineries. If you would like to select which wineries you would like to visit, please book a private tour and let us know which wineries you are hoping to visit in the comments. You can always contact us directly too (info@kelownaconcierge.ca or 250-863-4213).

How long is a Wine Tour?

A Half Day Wine Tour is about 4 hours and a full day tour can range from 6 hours to 8 hours depending on which wine region you are visiting. If you have time restraints, please let us know at the time of booking.

Is lunch or food included on the tour?

Our Half Day Wine Tours do not include a lunch stop, however some of the winery locations we visit have snacks available for purchase. On our Full Day Tours, we will make a lunch reservation for you and then you pay the restaurant directly for your lunch. The cost of lunch is not included in the Wine Tour price. We encourage you to have a late breakfast or early lunch before venturing on our half day tour.

How much wine will we taste?

Each winery typically serves small tastings that are the equivalent of 4 to 6 ounces of wine total (a standard glass of wine is 5 ounces). This is why we are happy to do the driving for you, so you can enjoy wine tasting responsibly!

What is the etiquette of tasting wine?

Wine tasting is meant to be fun and educational! Everyone’s palate is different, so it is interesting to find out which wines you love, and which wines are meant for others. We encourage you to have an open-mind and try varietals that you are unfamiliar with. Each winery has its own stories and signature wines, so listen to the wine pourer’s descriptions and ask lots of questions! If you are watching your consumption or dislike a wine, don’t be afraid to use a spittoon (a receptacle made for spitting into) you don’t need to finish every drop of wine you are poured. The Wine Tour vans have lots of storage space, so we hope you find some delicious bottles (or cases) to bring home with you!

Should I tip my Wine Tour Guide?

It is customary to tip your Wine Tour Guide between 15% to 20% based on your experience. Gratuities are not included in the price of your Wine Tour.

Should I tip my Wine Pourer at the Winery?

Typically, this is not necessary. However, when you have received great service it is always appreciated. So, if you have spectacular service, if you’re with a large group, or if you’re served additional wine (beyond the fixed list), please consider tipping.

Can I bring snacks or beverages with me?

We encourage you to bring “vehicle-friendly” snacks (please avoid things that can spill, be messy or melt) with you to enjoy while driving between wineries. You are also welcome to bring non-alcoholic beverages – we will provide chilled bottled water as well.

What should I wear?

We encourage you to wear comfortable ‘classy casual’ clothing, with layers in case of cooler weather. Many guests choose to dress-up – think summer dress with a jean jacket, or dressy jeans & a blouse. It is also recommended to wear sensible footwear (flats, wedges, nice slides) as you will do a small amount of walking on grass, gravel & cement at the wineries.

If I buy wine on the tour, can I ship it home?

Each winery has their own shipping policies, but most wineries are able to ship to many locations across Canada.

Can I take wine on an airplane?

You are able to bring up to 5 litres (6 bottles) in your checked luggage on an Airplane. You are not able to bring any wine in your carry-on bag.

Can I bring my children on a Wine Tour?

We are happy to accommodate children when you book a Private Wine Tour. Please contact us directly to book.
